All Quiet on the Western Front leads the pack of nominees for the 2023 BAFTA film awards with 14 nominations ahead of awards season favorites The Banshees of Inisherin and Everything Everywhere All At One, each landing 10 nominations. All Quiet on the Western Front's 14 noms tied the all-time record for a non-English-language film, blowing past the 12 nominations secured by Michel Hazanavicius’ silent film tribute The Artist (2011), while equaling the tally scored by Ang Lee’s wuxia masterpiece Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon more than 20 years ago. Julian Sands Reported Missing ►Search continues. British actor Julian Sands, known for roles in the films A Room With a View and Warlock, was reported missing Friday after going hiking in California’s San Gabriel Mountains earlier that day. Sands was reported missing around 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Baldy Bowl area of Mount Baldy, according to authorities. A search began, but ground crews were taken off the mountain Saturday evening amid avalanche risks and poor trail conditions due to snow and ice. The story. —Decision soon. A New Mexico prosecutor will announce a decision today over whether to file criminal charges against Alec Baldwin and others for their roles in the fatal shooting on the set of Rust in October 2021. Mary Carmack-Altwies, the First Judicial District Attorney, and a special prosecutor brought on to handle the case will announce their decision in a written statement at 9 a.m. Mountain Time. Michael Jackson is getting the biopic treatment. Lionsgate and director Antoine Fuqua are taking on the musician’s life in a film titled Michael. Graham King, a seasoned hand at biopics with the Oscar-winning Queen film Bohemian Rhapsody under his belt, is producing along with John Branca and John McClain, who are the co-executors of the Michael Jackson estate. James Wan’s Atomic Monster and Jason Blum’s Blumhouse have officially announced a sequel to M3GAN, the horror sensation that opened Jan. 6.
