Plunge into Adventure on This Tiny Southern Caribbean Island

I didn't even realize it was a full moon this weekend, and while I don't have a consistent take on what I think that means, this past weekend's full moon seems to have been a doozy. Do you feel different? I do, but I couldn't actually tell you how. It's more of an energy thing. Then again, now that I think about it, maybe the energy shifted because of New York Comic Con. Nothing can change the mood of a place faster than 200,000 people dressed up as comic book characters wandering around a giant convention center near the Hudson River. I've always said that!

Today we have some piping hot stories for you. Topics include a tiny fun-filled Caribbean island, ideas for how to dress up as something related to food and drink for Halloween, the best non-alcoholic drinks to help Sober October feel like a treat, a sale from Amazon, and a super spooky Airbnb in Lincoln, Illinois.

Between Comic Con and Halloween, I am feeling overwhelmed by the commitment to costumes. I have to run!

Bonaire is an oft-overlooked and underrated Southern Caribbean island that most definitely deserves your attention. It's got everything from beautiful reefs to some of the best windsurfing conditions around, fascinating and complex remnants of history, really good food, and a ton of donkeys. The donkeys are the real selling point, as far as I'm concerned. Read more about the island and plan your next adventure.

FOOD & DRINK

Have you always wanted to dress up as "Corn" for Halloween, but never quite knew how? Or maybe a big box of Franzia wine? We have some great ideas for food and drink-related Halloween costumes that will make everyone in your circle yell, "Why didn't I think of that?!" These are much better costume ideas than what I've scribbled down on a notepad on my kitchen island. My list just has "The Concept of Doom Scrolling" and "Prince Charles Trying to Eat a Soup Dumpling."

Spooky scary! http://static2.thrillist.com/_.gif

Whether you're observing Sober October or just not a drinker, it can be hard to find cocktail alternatives that aren't just 75 cans of LaCroix or room temperature Clamato juice. That's where Thrillist comes in, with this wonderful list of all the best non-alcoholic aperitifs and beverages around. We've got the beautifully branded Ghia, a delightful gin alternative, complex flavors from Optimist Botanicals, and more. Explore the beautiful world of non-alcoholic beverages without having to ask for an apple juice (no offense to apple juice).

This Airbnb in Illinois is as scary as it is cool. Every inch of it is painted black, inside and out, it's octagonal, it can fit nine guests, and just the pictures alone look like a Gothic dream in the early '90s. The devil is in the details, especially in this house. Grab eight of your creepiest friends and book it for a séance sometime soon. I wonder who the lucky people who booked it for Halloween are.
